SAP publishes preliminary results for Q3 2021
SAP raised its forecast for annual revenue from cloud operations and software sales for the year. The company said demand for its cloud-based business database is growing and expects cloud computing revenue to grow 16-19 percent annually overall.
“Customers are choosing SAP for their business transformation in the cloud. We see record adoption of our applications and our platform. This has resulted in strong acceleration of our cloud growth.” said the breathless CEO, Christian Klein.
SAP’s share price plummeted last October after the company cut its sales forecast over concerns about the impact of Covid-19 on business costs. Since then, the company has begun a recovery, climbing more than 11% this year.
Microsoft bought a platform developer for integration with SAP
Microsoft announced the acquisition of Clear Software, a platform for integrating and automating workflows to support SAP applications. The financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.
Microsoft does not provide specific details on what functionality improvements customers could expect. But it was noted that Clear Software products provide extensive integration with popular SAP business applications that are widely used by enterprises to manage their business data. These integrations are central to Microsoft’s acquisition plans.
SAP releases October 2021 security updates
On the 12th of October 2021, SAP released a total of 14 new and updated security notes. Three of them have the highest Hot News severity ratings and one High Priority note.
The vulnerability [CVE-2021-38178] with a CVSS rating of 9.1 exists in the SAP software deployment system and affects all versions of the SAP NetWeaver AS ABAP and ABAP platform from 700 to 756.
Note #2622660 (CVSS 10.0) is a recurring security note that provides an update for SAP Business Client, including the latest supported Chromium fixes.
Note #3101406 fixed a potential XML external object injection vulnerability in SAP Environmental Compliance version 3.0.
The only high priority note on the October SAP Patch Day is SAP Security Note #3077635, with a CVSS score of 7.8 and a denial of service fix in the SAP SuccessFactors mobile app for Android devices.
