Version 2023 of SAP S/4HANA announcement

SAP talked about the upcoming changes in their SAP S/4HANA release and maintenance strategy. Now customers will have access to more opportunities for more comfortable and efficient work.

Version 2023 of SAP S/4HANA will be released in October 2023. The solution will be adapted both to next-generation technologies and compatible with outdated software. Going forward, SAP S/4HANA plans to move to a two-year release cycle and a seven-year mainstream service for each release. In addition, the solution will be accompanied by an easy-to-implement feature package. For a smoother upgrade transition, SAP will provide customers with SAP S/4HANA versions 1709, 1809, and 1909 with an enhanced maintenance option so that users can more easily migrate directly to version 2023.

Current SAP security landscape

The security landscape for SAP applications has undergone significant changes in recent years due to a greater focus on the cloud. This reorientation has resulted in a number of significant changes ranging from location to configurations of SAP technologies from on-premise environments to cloud mixed landscapes.

Of course, corresponding changes have also taken place in the principle of attacks on SAP systems. Unfortunately, statistics show that attackers began to try to attack vulnerabilities in the SAP system with unprecedented persistence – the attacks became not only faster, but also more thoughtful. Meanwhile, a 2021 report says that more than 400 confirmed exploits have been identified, including more than 100 attacks on organizations in less than a year.
